72hr TPR wait and the hospital - Adoption.com Forums

We were about 2 days in the hospital with both of our adoptions. For #1, birthmom didn't want to room-in with our ds, so I did, in our own room and we visited back and forth a few times. For #2, there was no "room at the inn" for me and the cost would have been prohibitive. Dd stay in the nursery and visited birthmom in her room, us for long periods a private room off the nursery. Neither relinquishment was signed for several weeks in either adoption due to waiting for tribal clearances (#1) or 30-day revocation period (#2, birthmom just needed the time and didn't sign the California waiver of revocation that she could have signed at 5 days. In both cases, our children were released to us for the interim because we had fost-adopt clearance through our agency. We now realize how much those days and weeks helped each birthmom recover emotionally and sign with much more comfort. Both times, it was all about our strong relationships and very strong birthmoms. susan
