Sony Vaio Windows 8 Tablet Hits the FCC, Comes With NFC, Mystery Identity

? September 22, 2012Posted in: NewsFeed

Sony just sent a new tablet with Win 8 to the FCC for testing purposes, a month after unveiling some interesting slates at IFA 2012. While the Sony Vaio Duo 11 already reached the FCC, we?re left wondering what Windows 8 model this is. All we know is that the newcomer is a Vaio unit, that won approval for Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC.

It bears the model number SVJ202A11L and fits in the Vaio line. Reports are saying that the device is made by Foxconn in Taiwan and this is where the trail stops. Speculations say that this could in fact be the Sony Vaio Tap 10 model, that was unveiled at IFA 2012 together with the Sony Vaio Duo 11. The Vaio Tap 20 is a tilting all in one desktop PC with a 20 inch screen with 1600 x 900 resolution and battery power, so it?s basically a huge tablet.

It has NFC, a 1 TB hard drive and it weighs 11.4 pounds, so not very comfortable to carry around. The CPU choice is similar to Vaio Duo 11, so Core i3, i5 or i7 and the OS is Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro, with 4 or 8 GB of RAM. I?m afraid to even imagine the +$1500 price tag of this device?
