The trend in leisure travel and luxury travel is suddenly on the rise throughout the U.S. This is especially true of baby boomers, the generation born between 1946 and 1964. Baby boomers account for nearly 20 percent of the U.S. population, which is equal to 76.1 million Americans. However, the travel habits of baby boomers are very different from those of their parents or their children.

Boomers are a generation and sophisticated prefer very memorable vacation. They usually show a clear preference for the cultural and social issues related travel, to satisfy their intellectual curiosity. Because of their commitment to society and the environment, they tend to show a trend towards the environment and prefer to travel to visit big cities destinations that offer great cultural opportunities.

According to a survey of top luxury travel specialists from across the country to identify the hottest travel trends in 1998 and predict the travel habits of the rich in America in 1999, more and more baby boomers opt for cruises and shipments through their luxury travel. Baby boomers tend to prefer to engage in adventure sports like hiking, trekking, biking, skiing, rafting, kayaking and canoeing. According to the poll, the favorite adventure / outdoor destination for baby boomers in 1998 were Costa Rica. The survey also describes some travel habits of baby boomers. Boomers generally prefer to limit the duration of the cruise of eight days, prefers the presence of their children on cruises with them, as do small-scale vessels for cruising, and feel more comfortable in the less formal atmosphere (instead of black-tie dinner, etc.).
