(AP) ? Rory McIlroy has shrugged off a suggestion from Nick Faldo to spend more time concentrating on golf, saying the six-time major champion "should know how hard this game is at times."

McIlroy won his second major title last summer with a runaway win at the PGA Championship, but he's struggled with his game this season after changing equipment. Some have also speculated that he's devoted too much time to off-the-course activities, cutting into his preparation time and mental sharpness.

Among those was Faldo. Earlier this week, Sir Nick urged McIlroy to spend the next two decades focused solely on his golf, calling it his "window of opportunity," before savoring the fruits of his labor.

McIlroy said Wednesday that Faldo should "know how much work we all put into it."
